Are These Good Online Dating Profile Examples to Copy?

This is always a popular and interesting question. Yes, these are great online dating profile examples. Should you copy them word for word? Probably not. A great online dating profile is one that showcases you and what uniquely makes you—you. If you just cut and paste, you won&#;t achieve that goal.

That being said, you can certainly use these to copy and make some tweaks to make it unique to you! It&#;s totally fine if your profile looks fairly similar to these dating profile examples. Not everyone is a writer, which shouldn&#;t hold you back from finding love.

Can I Use the Same Info on Different Online Dating Apps?

Yes! There&#;s no rule that you have to use different information on different dating apps. At the end of the day, you&#;re the same you on every site! The only caveat to this is that you may want to make some slight adjustments if an online dating app is targeting something different. Other than that, though, you can % use the exact, word-for-word dating profile on multiple dating apps.

This brings up a second question on whether or not you should be using multiple online dating apps to find what you&#;re looking for. Absolutely! The more lines you can get in the water, the better your chances of finding exactly what you&#;re looking for. Here are a few of our favorite online dating apps that you can use to expand your search for that special someone.

Dating Profile About Me Examples

Your dating profile about me section should do three things:

  1. Introduce yourself
  2. Tell a little bit about what you do and like to do
  3. Briefly talk about what you&#;re looking for

You don&#;t have to give every single detail of your life or give a massive checklist for what you need. As you&#;ll see in these dating profile about me examples, they&#;re simple, short, sweet, and straight to the point. The idea is just to arouse enough interest for someone to send you a message or a flirt to start the conversation where you can get to know each other better.

Here are some great About Me dating profile examples.

Example 1

Hi! My name is Mark, and I am brand new to online dating. While I&#;m still figuring this all out, here&#;s something I know for sure—I&#;m excited to be here! The chance to meet unique, engaging, and interesting women is pretty dang neat. If you think you might fit that mold, drop me a message.

I work in the finance industry. And while I like to work hard, I make sure to leave time to enjoy life. I&#;m a fan of wine, movies, hiking, and getting out of town for the weekend. Let&#;s chat and see if maybe we&#;re a good fit!

Example 2

Isn&#;t online dating a blast? Okay, maybe it can be challenging at times, but it&#;s still exciting that you have the chance to meet someone special who you might have never met elsewhere.

My name&#;s Sarah! I&#;m a proud dog mom, an avid gym-goer, and, if you ask my friends, a bit quirky at times. I&#;m looking for a man who compliments my life and is ready to enjoy all that this world has to bring to the table. If you think we might be a good match, send me a message.

Example 3

My name is Beth and if I had to pick three words to describe me they would be positive, a little shy, and someone who loves to laugh. Okay, that was a few more than three words, but it&#;s fun to break the rules from time to time, right?

I&#;m new to online dating, but I know what I&#;m looking for in a man. My Christian faith is important to me, so I want to find a man who feels the same way. Additionally, I&#;m really into movies, so a guy who likes to cuddle up on the couch instead of going out on a Friday night is the right match for me.

If you think maybe we could be right for each other, send me a message! I&#;m kind of shy, but if you reach out, I come out of my shell.

Example 4

Hi, I&#;m Ted! Thanks for stopping by my online dating profile. I&#;m not the best at describing myself, so I reached out to a few friends and asked them to tell me what I&#;m like so I could share that with you. Here&#;s what they had to say.

  • Ted is driven, goal-oriented, and goes after what he wants in life.
  • Ted is a real catch. He&#;s caring, dependable, and someone who could really be your rock.

If you want to see if my friends are right or they&#;re just telling me what I want to hear (kidding), we should chat! Send me a message and let&#;s start the conversation..

Do these about me examples work for short bio examples too?

Yes! Even if the section isn&#;t explicitly called &#;About Me,&#; these descriptions of who who are work as a fantastic dating profile template. As long as the section is a spot for you to talk about who you are and what you&#;re looking for, these short dating profile examples will work well.

Things NOT to Put In Your Online Dating Profile: Bad Examples

Writing the best online dating profile is as much about what you put in your profile as it is about what you choose to leave out. Here are a few things you should never include in your online dating profile. Some of these things should be omitted for safety reasons, some because they aren&#;t helpful, and some because they&#;re so overdone.

  • Never include personally identifiable information. You can share contact information or specific information about things like where you work or where you live after you start a conversation and get to know someone. But you don&#;t want those things shared with everyone on an online dating site.
  • Don&#;t talk about how you hate talking about yourself. EVERYONE and their mother mention how awkward online dating is and how much they hate talking about themselves in their profile. If it weren&#;t so overused, it would be something nice to add to your profile. But for the sake of success, leave it out. The only instance where you might be able to hint at it is if you do something like we showed in About Me Example 4 where you get quotes from friends.
  • Don&#;t talk about your exes. Here&#;s an example of a terrible online dating profile. All this does is signal to good men or women that you may have past issues you haven&#;t worked through yet.
    • Hi, I&#;m Shelly and I am looking for a real man. My ex was a piece of garbage and didn&#;t know how to treat me right. He used to say mean things to me and never respected me. If you are different than that, hit me up, but not if you&#;re a piece of garbage like he was.

The Goal of Your Dating Profile Sections

As you can see in these dating profile examples, everything is fairly short and simple. Here&#;s why. The goal is not to tell someone everything about you or everything you&#;re looking for. The goal is to get to the conversation part of the process where you can start to get to know each other.

  1. The goal of the dating profile headline is to get them to click on your profile to read your About Me section.
  2. Once you get them to your About Me section, the only goal is to get them interested and informed enough to send you a message.
  3. From there, it&#;s just a conversation to start to see if they&#;re someone you might be interested in getting to know more 🙂

How To Write Dating Profile Headlines That Women Love

Struggling to think up a catchy & funny profile headline for PoF, Seeking Arrangement, or other dating site?

This ultimate guide will help you do it better, faster, stronger.

I&#;m a professional dating profile writer.  Crazy as that sounds, I&#;ve been making a living by helping people like you with stuff like this for several years now.

During this time I&#;ve tested catchy headlines, such as &#;Culinary wizard, seeking eager apprentice&#;.  I&#;ve tried funny headlines like &#;don&#;t fry naked.  Been there&#;.  And I&#;ve helped fix a few headlines that guys thought were amusing, but actually awful; &#;&#;just the tip?&#;.  He couldn&#;t understand why he wasn&#;t getting any traction.

Because we&#;re a small operation compared to the big dating websites, we don&#;t have all the data.  But I have learned a lot over the years about what makes for a good headline for a dating site, since people is always looking for a good romantic partner to spend time with and enjoy as well, even using toys as vibrating bullets which are great for couples.

&#;Do I even Need A Profile Headline?&#;

dating profile headlines are least important

Here&#;s the good news;  You probably don&#;t need one.  Most dating websites & apps don&#;t use them anymore.

If you happen to be using one of the few sites that still have them, your profile headline is the least important part of your dating profile.

&#;say what?&#;

Why Headlines Are The Least Important Part Of Your Dating Profile

okcupid messages women send vs messages recieved
  • Of the sites that actually result in dates for our members here at PDA, only Seeking Arrangement and Millionaire Match still display headlines on profiles.

I scoured the internet for evidence claiming otherwise.  The best I could find was a academic study, which said &#;If you can get the potential date to stop and think about your headline message&#;this will increase their liking.&#;

I couldn&#;t think of an effective way to check if a dating profile headline was &#;stop & think&#; worthy.  So I tested some, just to be sure we haven&#;t been missing out on something that could generate notably more interest from the ladies online.

What&#;s The Best Profile Headline For You?

chosing a dating profile username

Because dating profile headlines for guys are rarely seen, and won&#;t affect your response rate directly, they&#;re best used to tie the rest of your dating profile together.

For that, it&#;s worth thinking about the overall vibe you&#;re going for with your dating profile.

Choosing An Attractive Archetype

attractive archetypes for online dating

Certain male personality traits & qualities are always attractive to women.

I&#;ve identified 2 dozen of them, and organized them into what we call Attractive Archtypes.

When building a dating profile around an archtype, you give yourself the advantage of working within a proven set of qualities women naturally find irresistable.

Doing it this way allows us to write headlines for dating sites with as little guesswork as possible.  We can focus on what works instead.

Unsure about what makes you attractive?  Ask yourself, &#;what&#;s important to you?&#;.  &#;what are you passionate about&#;?  And &#;what is my objective?&#;

The actions a man takes, and what&#;s on his mind, is basically who he is.

For example, if you love outdoor rock climbing, that can earn you &#;adventurer&#; points.  If you&#;re an investor, your experience can qualify you as &#;established & successful&#;.  It&#;s simply a matter of presenting what you&#;re about in a cool sounding way.

No matter who you are, there&#;s always a way to spin it into something attractive.

Different Headlines For Different Dating Platforms

PoF Headline Examples

Plenty Of Fish is the biggest site where funny dating headlines can still featured prominently.  Because it&#;s a large general population dating site, the best strategy is to lead with a funny & fairly obvious headline.

On Plenty Of Fish, headlines are the most notable part of the search results.  It&#;s unlikely this will mean anything for you though, unless you&#;re exceptionally attractive.  And even then, you aren&#;t likely to pop up in many women&#;s searches.  Because they don&#;t usually make the first move.

You Believed The PoF Commercial Too?

I&#;m looking for real.  Like eHarmony slo-mo.  Friends tell me I&#;m wookin per nub in all the wrong places. I have

Your Username Should Suit Your Dating Site

Keep in mind these dating profile headlines only apply to dating websites.  Apps like Tinder & Bumble only show the users Facebook first names and bios when swiping.  There are different ways to capture attention on those.

&#;What Do The Experts Think About Dating Profile Headlines?

These online matchmakers know a thing or 2 about dating headlines.  They write them as part of their job.

Amber Kakish - Personal Dating Assistant

Female Opinion From Amber Kakish &#; Personal Dating Assistant

&#;Headlines can be one of the first things you see when you visit a personal profile.  They can tell you if the person is creative and witty, or not.&#;

Male Opinion From Matthew Violette &#; Personal Dating Assistant

&#;I like to have a headline be some type of warning for a reader. &#;Proceed with caution.&#; is a cliche and generic one&#;but how often in life do we like to navigate down that road even though we&#;ve been warned it&#;s dangerous?

&#;Warning: wings are super spicy&#; but we eat them anyway. Our curiosity is peaked and that&#;s exactly what I want to do to a reader. I want them to scroll down and read&#;

Mia Topalian - Personal Dating Assistant

Female Opinion From Mia Topalian &#; Personal Dating Assistant

&#;Headlines are the best way to give a short taste of who you are: personality, humor, & a fun question for women to answer!&#;

In Conclusion, Don&#;t Sweat The Headline

Keep in mind that relative to everything else, your profile headline is the least important part of your overall dating profile.  It&#;s not going to make or break your online dating success.  So sweat over it a little bit.  Then move on to the more important bits.  Namely, your dating username, and your profile copy.

For Science! &#; How We Test Our Profile Headlines

For this example test, I started with a picture of a very photogenic guy.  He&#;s not following all my best practices for dating pictures (he&#;s looking directly into the camera, medium crop, etc), but because he&#;s a stock photo, he&#;s bad at following my directions.  Let&#;s call him &#;David&#;.

To start, I ran David through a photo scoring tool called Photofeeler.  It&#;s useful as a starting point when trying to see how competitive any given picture of dating might be.

The goal for now is to simply see if women like this guy, before any sort of headline for dating is applied to him.

photofeeler dating headling test - david

90% is an excellent attractiveness score.  At this level, you might expect David to be able to sit back and just enjoy the inbound activity, regardless of his dating headline.

Unfortunately for David, that sort of role reversal effect doesn&#;t kick in, even for very attractive guys online, unless you&#;re pegging closer to % attractiveness.  Sorry David. But you&#;re gonna have to work for it like the rest of us!

Creating The Dating Profiles To Test

Now that we know what we&#;re working with, I created 2 sets of test profiles on 2 different dating sites; PoF, and Seeking Arrangement.

I assigned David a catchy dating headline for 1 set of profiles, and a generic headline for the other.

I left his profiles up for 3 days, then checked on the interest he was getting.  Experiment results are below.

Analysis

Immediately obvious is the huge difference between sugar daddy dating, and mainstream dating sites when it comes to inbound interest.

That said, the differences between a generic profile dating headline and a playful one, on either platform appears to be fairly negligible for getting noticed online.

So Why Bother Writing A Good Headline?

The answer will intrigue you

online dating science

  • If you&#;re using a sugar daddy dating site, your headline will be visible on your main profile, and can help tie together your attractive archtype.
  • If a woman does run a search, and you pop up, you&#;ve got a better chance to stand out from the crowd if you&#;ve got a catchy headline.

9 Tips on How to Write Eye-Catching Dating Headlines

By , over million Americans tried online dating at some point. Learn how to write dating site headlines that make your online crushes swoon.

Out of the 8,+ online dating sites out there, not all of them use headlines. However, on sites that do use headlines, the right headline can help you attract compatible cuties like moths to a flame. Think of your headline as an opportunity to flaunt your personality.

Your headline is often one of the first things users see after your photo when they look at your profile. It&#;s an opportunity to make a good first impression.

Here are some useful pointers for writing killer dating headlines:

Use Good Grammar and Capitalization

In order to write a good profile headline, you must use good grammar and spelling. At the very least, your headline should be readable. If grammar isn&#;t your strong point, use something like Grammarly to edit your headline.

Always capitalize the first letter of your sentence and proper nouns.

Never write a headline in all caps. People interpret all caps as screaming.

Avoid Clichés

&#;I&#;m looking for Mr. Right.&#;

&#;I love to laugh and have fun.&#;

The internet can&#;t even count how many times people use generic dating headlines like these. These headlines don&#;t make strong first impressions, so they don&#;t benefit you.

Avoid cliché headlines at all costs. They&#;re a surefire way to make people pass up on your profile.

Don&#;t know what constitutes cliché? Look at other people&#;s headlines on the online dating site you use. The goal is to stand out, not be like everyone else.

No Negativity

&#;Ready to try one more time.&#;

That doesn&#;t sound too appealing, does it? Avoid negativity and self-deprecation.

Think of your online dating profile as a way of &#;marketing&#; yourself to others. Your profile and headline should advertise your strengths, not your flaws. It&#;s the same reason why you should include mostly good online dating photos in your profile.

Don&#;t start your headline with something like, &#;Don&#;t message me if&#;&#; Talk about your deal breakers somewhere else. Your headline is supposed to entice other online daters, not drive them away.

Consider Your Strong Traits

What do you bring to the table? What traits are you most proud of? Use them as inspiration for your profile headline.

For instance, if you&#;re an artist or creative person, you can say something like, &#;I&#;m an artist in search of a muse. Is that you?&#;

Is cooking a hobby or profession for you? If so, think of a headline along the lines of: &#;Spice up your love life with an amazing cook!&#;

If you&#;re a gamer, incorporate video games into your headline. Think of a cool saying like, &#;Just a Mario looking for his Princess Peach.&#;

If necessary, take the time to list your most attractive traits and decide which ones you&#;d like to mention. Not only will it help with your headline, but it&#;ll be a good exercise in self-love and self-confidence.

Use Humor

Feel free to use humor. If your headline for a dating site makes a person laugh, they&#;re more likely to interact with your profile.

There&#;s no way someone can&#;t fall in love with a headline like this: &#;I&#;m not everyone&#;s cup of tea, but I&#;ll be your shot of tequila.&#;

Humor is especially great when coupled with honesty. There&#;s no shame in using a headline like, &#;Looking to add another person to my relationship with Netflix!&#;

(Reminder: Always be honest on online dating sites and apps.)

Be Clever

Some of the best dating profile headlines are too clever to pass up. If intelligence is your strong point, think of a headline that expresses your wit.

If you&#;re a literary geek, say something like, &#;U and I could be more than just vowels.&#;

Math lovers can incorporate numbers into their headlines. Here&#;s a good one:
&#;I&#;m as sweet as &#;

An unconventional person can try using a headline that says something like, &#;There&#;s plenty of fish in the sea, but I&#;m a Kraken!&#;

Make sure your headline doesn&#;t include references that are too obscure. It&#;ll limit how many people respond to your dating profile.

Infomercial-Inspired Headlines

Quoting infomercials is an easy way to get a chuckle out of your online crush. It also implies you&#;re a hot commodity.

Consider using phrases in your headline like these: &#;Free day trial!&#;

&#;Exclusive offer: Act now!&#;

&#;Satisfaction guaranteed or your money back!&#;

&#;9 out of 10 men agree: I&#;m better than your ex!&#;

However, cracking jokes in your headline isn&#;t always necessary. This next tip will help you if you&#;re more serious.

Be Heartfelt

You&#;re doing well if your headline makes someone say, &#;Aaaawwww!&#; Using an authentic and heartfelt headline is like giving a virtual hug to everyone who comes across your profile.

If you&#;re looking for &#;that special someone,&#; use a headline like, &#;Life is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration. I&#;m searching for that 1% here.&#;

Hopeless romantics can use a headline along the lines of, &#;I&#;m a hopeless romantic. Will you give me hope?&#;

Think of profound quotes you like and quote them in your headline. Try using this Laura Hendricks quote: &#;Love is friendship caught on fire. Are you my flame?&#;

Create Perfect Dating Site Headlines

Over 40% of Americans use dating apps and sites. Writing quality dating site headlines will improve your online dating experience.

Around 59% of Americans think online dating is a great way to meet people. If you use a good headline, you&#;re bound to meet more people. That eventually leads to more dates.

Level up in the online dating world and get better profile photos. You&#;ll look more amazing than you ever thought possible.

Clever POF Headlines for Guys

POF Headline #1: Women Love a Confident Man

This is a popular motivational phrase that started making its rounds on SM platforms a few years back. It’s almost tempting to file this POF headline in the do not use category. But while it may be a common phrase, it’s still not cliché.

Despite having heard this phrase before, the headline still packs a punch because of its wit and fearlessness. This clever play on words suggests that the person who wrote it is ambitious and confident, eye catching headlines for dating sites. Not to mention that the ellipsis functions as a trail of bread crumbs that compels the reader to learn more about the man behind the words.

POF Headline #2: Subconciously Target Women with Your Fave TV Show

Flashing a little wit is the best way to get a woman to give your profile a thorough read-through. Headlines should be thought of as concise billboards that have to pack a punch in order to get the attention of a reader.

Better Call Saul is a widely popular show on AMC and a prequel spin-off of Breaking Bad. This crafty POF user simply swapped his name for Saul’s to create instant POF headline gold. Associating yourself with popular shows that everyone knows is guaranteed to get you clicks. Just make sure that show isn’t too obscure or you could inadvertently ostracize some users.

POF Headline #3: Show Her You&#;re Smarter or More Creative than Your Competition

Sure it’s kind of dumb, but I’ll admit I laughed. Taking a widely known fact and spinning it to add a bit of humor signals that you’re an intelligent and creative guy. Never before has smarts and humor been a bad combination.

POF Headline #4: Subconsciously Target Women With Your Favorite Song

“Everybody knows the dice are loaded” is just one of the many gut-crushing lines from Leonard Cohen’s utterly pessimistic hit, “Everybody Knows.” This headline serves almost as a secret being broadcast to the masses but understood by the few.

This POF headline is meant to attract a very specific type of person. The person who wrote it knows this and is filtering women with the simple use of a song lyric. But even if I didn’t know which song the lyric was referencing the line itself is intriguing enough to suck me in.

Its pessimistic undertone that everything is working against us suggests that this isn’t just another vapid guy mindlessly surfing POF. Don’t be afraid to show some depth of character with your headline.

POF Headline #5: A Witty Play On Words

This user took a too cool for school approach by dissing the very app he was using –and it worked. Within this wittily worded headline we can infer that the user is suggesting that women should take their fishing rods out of the dating pool because they’ve finally found the man they’ve looking for. Women are likely to bite on a tasty headline, you’ve just got to reel them in.

POF Headline #6: If You Challenge Her She Just Might Accept

Whenever I see a sign akin to “Enter If You Dare” I just have to indulge my more wild side, take a chance, and see what happens. This headline is innocuous but also prods the reader into taking a risk. It’s asking women to take a chance in the most polite way possible. Its brevity also gives off a mysterious vibe. If she wants to learn more she&#;ll just have to strike up a conversation.

POF Headline #7: Make Us Think

We don’t want to invest heavily into thinking about what exactly your POF headline means. Creating a thought-provoking headline that is context-sensitive will make us give pause for an extra moment or two. If that pause is worth the wait, we’ll most likely be interested enough to read through your profile.

POF Headline #7: It’s Not Eye catching headlines for dating sites But I’ll Take It

The whole purpose of a headline is to persuade women to take a chance. The headline above gets at that point but without luring the reader in. It’s a good first draft, eye catching headlines for dating sites, but if he wants better results he’ll need to add a little originality.

POF Headline #8: The Knee Slapper

POF Headline #9: The Filter

Luckily, eye catching headlines for dating sites, most women do. This headline tells women exactly what they’re getting themselves into. The beard-loving women will flock best dating apps to meet foreigners it and the rest won’t. But the point of this POF headline isn’t to cast a large net, eye catching headlines for dating sites, but to only attract a certain type of women.

POF Headline # Literally Laughing Out Loud

To be fair, there are two ways to interpret this one. You can think of it as a plea by the author to women on POF to not asian dating websites that are scams serial killers because he’s sick of dating them. Or one can read it as a headline informing women that the owner of the bio is in fact not a serial killer and that she’s finally found her match. The former is funny, the second, less so. As you’ve seen, most quality headlines are humorous, just make sure your humor isn’t be misinterpreted.

POF Headline # Almost, But Not Quite

Avoid the clichés. This headline falls short because not only has it been done before on POF but on every dating website and application as well. Clichés are lazy, but they’re made even worse when the cliché itself acknowledges its own laziness. POF offers thousands of profiles for women to browse. Dig deep to find a POF headline that’s shines with novelty rather than slapping a grey cliché on your profile.

POF Headline # Being Able To Communicate The Right Sentiment

A headline is considered your badge. It’s the first thing and oftentimes the only thing people will read about you. It should encompass who you are in a limited space. From a headline such as this one I can glean that the headline’s owner is a man that is more than skin-deep. The issue here is that while the sentiment is nice, the message itself falls flat. It’s a bland statement that’s almost pleading with the reader, “If you read my profile, I’ll read yours.” Don’t plead, persuade.

POF Headline # The Why Not Try Headline

Truth. Hey, the man is right. I don’t really know who this dude is but I’m hot for a fiery relationship and have been persuaded to be receptive to catching fire. Sometimes we just need a little nudge to open ourselves up and take a chance. A well-written laconic headline is just the trick.

Nike kills it for a reason. With just a few words a slogan can encapsulate everything you want to be. “Never settle” works because it can be applied to one’s life in so many ways. This is the wrong way to go about it. Dating apps are introduction apps. You’re not supposed to become pen pals with someone -exchanging messages for weeks- before asking them out.

This headline works because it’s trying to move the dynamic into the real world as quickly as possible. Anyone that messages this dude first will do so because they’re interested in tennis and/or brunch. From there only a few more messages need be exchanged before a date is planned.

Things NOT to Put In Your Online Dating Profile: Bad Eye catching headlines for dating sites the best online dating profile is as much about what you put in your profile as it is about what you choose to leave out.

The only instance where you might be able to hint at it is if you do free online minanite dating with out facebook like we showed in About Me Example 4 where you get quotes from friends.
  • Don&#;t talk about your exes. Here&#;s an example of a terrible online dating profile. All this does is signal to good men or women that you may have past issues you haven&#;t worked through yet.
    • Hi, I&#;m Shelly and I am looking for a real man. My ex was a piece of garbage and didn&#;t know how to treat me right, eye catching headlines for dating sites.

  2. Once you get them to your About Me section, the only goal is to get them interested and informed enough to send dating apps for actual relationships a message.
  3. From there, it&#;s just a conversation to start to see if they&#;re someone you might be interested in getting to know more 🙂
